BIRMINGHAM plan to announce a new signing ahead of their home clash with Workington next Wednesday.
BRC Roofing Brummies boss Graham Drury has moved into the transfer market with American star Chris Kerr still on the sidelines - and options for guest riders are now significantly reduced.
Drury said: "Chris's leg has healed perfectly but the problem is the amount of muscle wastage he has suffered during his time out, and he needs some more time to build that back up.
"Our guests have done a really good job, they've been averaging around seven points a meeting, but in August the averages change and the calibre of riders I could book is nowhere near as good.
"So I'm bringing someone in until Chris is fit to return - he's not a million miles away but we have some big matches ahead to make sure of a play-off place, and we must have strength at reserve."
With the new man set to debut against the Comets, it will bring the Brummies back to a full one-to-seven as Aaron Summers made a surprise return from a broken collarbone in Thursday's win at Redcar.
Drury added: "Aaron practiced at Perry Barr on Wednesday with a view to coming back against Workington, but he had absolutely no reaction and came through with flying colours. We met up at Redcar and he said he was fine to ride, so we were pleased to put him straight back in.
"Although it was nervous at the end it was a good result for us, and it was very encouraging to see Justin Sedgmen looking more like the rider we know he is."
