BRUMMIES OPEN UP AGAINST POTTERS
Thursday 14 January 2010
BIRMINGHAM Speedway will launch an exciting new season of Perry Barr racing with a mouthwatering M6 Trophy clash against Stoke Potters.

The Brummies, beaten by the Staffordshire side on the last night of the 2009 campaign, will give a debut to several new winter signings on Wednesday, March 17.

Stoke have snapped up Czech Republic talent Hynek Stichauer from Wolves and Californian Ricky Wells from Coventry to bolster their 2010 challenge.

Brummies boss Graham Drury said: “When I attended the Birmingham Supporters Club before Christmas I asked for their views on how we should start the season and the message was crystal clear to me, they want to see their team in action immediately.

“And it means we have a potential cracker because two revamped sides will be doing battle. I like the way Stoke look, with Stichauer and Wells joining them from Wolves and Coventry they could well have a very good season."

Before then, though, the 2010 Brummies – complete with their Australian domination – will take to the Perry Barr track for press and practice on Wednesday, March 10 at midday. The public will be welcome to this event but a donation will be expected to support the St Johns team who provide terrific medical cover throughout the season.

That same evening at 6.30pm there is a staff meeting – and all Birmingham staff are urged to attend if possible.

Then at 8pm Drury and the team will be on the panel for the fans forum where supporters can meet and greet the new signings.
