BIRMINGHAM’S winter recruit, Justin Sedgmen, warmed up for the new season with a creditable runner-up spot in the Australian Under-21 Championship on Saturday.
The 17-year-old scored 12—points in the event at Mildura, which put him directly into the ‘A Final’ alongside Darcy Ward, Josh Auty and Sam Masters.
When the tapes rose in the winner-takes-all final, Ward led all the way, but Sedgmen capped an impressive performance to take the silver medal ahead of Auty and Masters.
Additional Brummies interest saw Richard Sweetman eliminated in the ‘B Final’ after scoring 9-points from his five qualifying rides and Jake Anderson chipped in with 6.
